Title: game as invitation to connect - "can you enjoy this, too?"
Post by: droqen on August 08, 2025, 06:32:06 PM
making a game
not as a 'difficult challenge'
but like, are we the same?
if i'm obsessed, are you obsessed the same way?

brainstorm ways to do this responsibly.
'awake' is a good example... one tiny challenge.
nothing more.

once you get to the end of awake you've shown that we can enjoy the same thing.
no more exhaustive proof is necessary - i'm not interested in seeing exactly how far we are both willing to go.

(am i? if i ever am... i'd like to know that, too... hmm...)

aahh!!! But that's exactly the thing i don't want to do, THAT'S GAMEPLAY... i want to show you something that you can take away

maybe MAYBE gameplay could do that: it could show you a new way of being and enjoying that you take with you. but that doesn't come from seeking connection as an artist

it comes from having an idea that inflamed me so much that i couldn't resist, i had to explain it somehow, i had to make a checkpoint...
