Title: Lists
Post by: droqen on May 14, 2023, 07:07:54 AM
Gathering and ranking lists. I have a bone to pick with lists. Some lists are good, and some lists are bad.

I first noticed this clearly in ~ Across Worlds and Bodies (https://newforum.droqen.com/index.php?msg=2221) (also here (https://newforum.droqen.com/index.php?msg=2226)). I hated these lists. I am not going to analyze them yet.

Oh, here's a thought on lists found in my reading of ~ The Nature of Order Book One (https://newforum.droqen.com/index.php?msg=1573) that pre-echoes my already forming thoughts

And another abstract look at the nature of lists - but let's not get lost in theory. ~ from 'The Curated Closet' (https://newforum.droqen.com/index.php?msg=1469)

edit:: Okay, just one more. From ~ The Timeless Way of Building [..] (http://newforum.droqen.com/index.php?msg=538), of course.

I've written some poems with lists in them over the past 2-3 years, very list-like. I enjoy some lists. There is an art form to lists...

From 'tiger in the orange garden' (unfinished, unpublished, etc)

Quoterocks.
rocks everywhere. walls too. walls surrounding the rocks, rocks surrounding the trees
trees, trees with flowers hanging from the branches, trees with the orange smell, trees
flowers, flowers hanging from the branches, flowers not hanging from the branches, flowers with the orange smell, flowers

Quotein the sky, the blue sky, the clouds
in the pond, the blue sky, the clouds, the fish

From unnamed poem about travel

Quoteten trees, a tall building with a hundred windows, a neon sign in the rain

Quotemetal pipes, a thousand bolts, big empty rooms

From 'the hydra in our home' (likewise unfinished)

Quoteempty cans, the rug with crumbs in it, boxes of floppies and wires. the couch with its crevices, all of the books we've read, and all of the books we might never. camera detritus, technical debt, a sink full of dishes and dirt.

Lists. I cannot say anything at this time other than read A CITY IS NOT A TREE, but I now understand my relationship to lists.
